Decontamination of the transformers with PCB content is achieved by using the LTR² technology (Low-Temperature Rinsing and Re-use/recovery). The method implies the separation of the PCB fluids from the solid materials, purifying and incineration or destruction of the resulted fluids and the oil in a chemical process with sodium (more information here).

When the process is complete, the reusable secondary materials have a residual PCB contamination level of less than 5 ppm, compliant with all regulations.

The LTR² is one of the most advanced technologies in the world. The technology allows re-use of the transformers, greatly reducing investments for new equipment.

Recycling transformers
